What data this site collects, and how it is handled.
This page describes what data The Plastic Surgeon's Toolkit (theplasticsurgeonstoolkit.com and its subdomains, including weekly.theplasticsurgeonstoolkit.com) collects and how it is processed. The services are operated by Marius Drysch, MD, MHBA. For questions reach info@theplasticsurgeonstoolkit.com.
Controller within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / DSGVO) is Marius Drysch, MD, MHBA, c/o SCHUTZADRESSE.COM #566, Waidmannsluster Damm 1, 13507 Berlin, Deutschland. Email: info@theplasticsurgeonstoolkit.com.
When you open these pages, our hosting provider records standard HTTP request metadata, your IP address, user agent, the requested URL, referrer, and a timestamp, in server logs. This is technically necessary to deliver the pages and to keep the site secure and stable. We do not combine this data with other sources or use it to identify you.
If you subscribe to the Weekly, you enter your email address in a signup form. We use it exclusively to send you the newsletter. Subscription is double opt-in: after signing up you receive a single confirmation email, and only when you click the confirmation link is your address added to the distribution list; we record the confirmation (address and time) as proof of consent. Unconfirmed addresses are not stored. On confirmation you also receive the current issue by email.
Our emails contain no tracking pixels; we do not measure opens or clicks. You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in every issue or by emailing info@theplasticsurgeonstoolkit.com; your address is then removed from the distribution list.
The sites set no cookies, and there are no accounts to create. To see how many people read the Weekly and which issues resonate, the sites use Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless measurement tool. It records anonymous, aggregate data points: the page viewed, the referrer, an approximate location (country and city), and device, browser, and operating-system type. It sets no cookies, does not store your IP address, and identifies visitors only by a temporary hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, so it cannot follow you across other websites or from one day to the next. Apart from the newsletter signup above, nothing you do on these pages personally identifies you to us; any in-page interactivity (such as the table-of-contents highlight) runs entirely in your browser.
Processing of your email address for the newsletter rests on your consent, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, given through the double-opt-in confirmation. You may withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR) by unsubscribing. Processing of the server-log metadata, and of the anonymous, aggregate Web Analytics data, rests on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in operating a stable, secure website and understanding in aggregate how it is used.
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA, which processes the server-log metadata and the anonymous Web Analytics data described above on our behalf under a Standard Contractual Clauses-backed data processing agreement.
Newsletter addresses are stored with, and our emails are sent through, Resend Inc., 2261 Market Street #5039, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA, acting as our processor under a data processing agreement; email dispatch runs from Resend's EU region (eu-west-1).
Your email address is kept for as long as you are subscribed and is removed from the distribution list when you unsubscribe. The record of your double-opt-in confirmation may be retained afterwards as far as necessary to demonstrate that consent was given. Server logs are retained by the host for a short period (typically up to 30 days) for security and diagnostic purposes and are then rotated out; we keep no separate copy.
Under the GDPR you have the right to request information about the data held (Art. 15), correction (Art. 16), deletion (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21); consent given for the newsletter can be withdrawn at any time (Art. 7 (3)), most easily by unsubscribing. Contact info@theplasticsurgeonstoolkit.com to exercise these rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, typically the one for your place of residence.
Our host and our email provider are based in the USA. Transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards as appropriate.
